John W: Henry's Kirksville MO
We literally lived across the street from Henry's and my oldest brother worked there. We had 6 kids in our family and I think you could get 5 burgers for a $1.00 on certain days of the week. My parents would give us like $5.00 and we would get 15 burgers and a pound of fries and eat like we were kings. Their burgers were good and the fries were great. Brings back good times, simple, cheap and fulfilling and we felt like we were eating out. My brother liked working there. The manager there passed away a couple of years ago and the first thing my brother said was that was the old Henry's hamburger manager. I may be in that area in the next few years, going to make my wife go eat there with me so I can reminisce about it.

Robert B: Henry's in Brevard NC?
Not a memory but a question. We have a Henry's here in Brevard NC. Is/was this store related to the Henry's chain? I always thought it to be a local establishment but ran across an article abut Henry's and it made me wonder.

Raymond S: Loved Those Burgers
In 1963 and 1964 I visited Henry's Hamburgers on a regular basis. This was in Niagara Falls, NY. A neighbor girl and her mother worked there. I would always order the same thing, 2 cheeseburgers, fries, and a strawberry shake. I would pull into the parking lot and by the time I walked into the store, my order was on the counter. Sometimes it was a freebie. I sure loved those burgers. All good memories.

Brian L: Great Hotdogs
I used to buy hotdogs everyday at Henry's on Main street in Binghamton NY. I loved those dogs. There was another Henry's in nearby Endicott, NY. I wish that you were still here. I miss those great hotdogs so much!

Roger J: 60+ Years LaterWhen I was a 3-year old in the late 1950s, my mom used to take me (and later my brother and me) to Henry's on Galbraith Road in Cincinnati's Finneytown neighborhood. We called it "The -Man-in-the-Moon" because of the big smiling hamburger bun on the sign. It was always a treat that we cheered when we were told we're going to the Man-in-the-Moon. I will always remember the cheeseburger with the tangy sauce. We would either eat on the picnic tables outside the restaurant or we would drive to a nearby park and enjoy our meal. Sadly, Henry's closed in Cincinnati in the late 1960s and was replaced by a Wendy's 😫. |

Fast forward 60+ years. Mom's gone now and I'm retired. I have traveled and lived all over the world and have eaten thousands of hamburgers from virtually every continent. But none resembled my memory of the taste of Henry's. My latest home is in Southeast Michigan where we have been for 8 years. But later this year, we're headed east to Virginia which will likely be our final move. I recently discovered that Henry's still has one location open in Benton Harbor. So this week, we will check off an important item on the bucket list. I am going to take a road trip with my wife and daughter to visit the "Man-in-the-Moon" in Benton Harbor and I hope to relive a very memorable treat, a Henry's cheeseburger!
